The 17th Annual Garlic Festival: April 1 - April 30, 2008

What started out as a little celebration has grown into a citywide festival of odiferous proportions. With our first restaurant, Sorrento Castle Downs, Carmelo Rago, president and CEO of Sorrentino’s Restaurant Group, noticed the love affair that guests had with garlic. They kept asking for more. After doing some research, Carmelo found out about Gilroy, California, and how they host the biggest garlic festival in the world. He decided to visit it and when he returned home, the rest is history!

During Garlic Festival we crown local celebrities to be our Garlic King and Queen. The Garlic King and Queen act as our Garlic Ambassadors throughout the festival - in particular and most important during our charitable events. This year's Garlic King and Queen are Dylan and Randi Chase from 91.7 The Bounce.

Apart from all the great garlic dishes served during the Garlic Festival, it is that time of the year when Sorrentino’s does its biggest fundraising. This year’s funds will be directed towards the support of Prostate Health Advancements and Research in Edmonton. The benefiting organizations include the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, University Hospital Foundation, and Alberta Cancer Foundation.
